Sad News

After a brief but painful illness, my dog was put to sleep on August 21st.
Buzz was only four and is dearly missed.

I’ve been doing alright, mostly due to my amazing friends who have kept me busy all week.  I can’t imagine life without pets, I’ve rarely been without one, but some parts are really hard.

  1. I'm so, so sorry. I know how incredibly hard it is and so quiet around the house. They really leave a hole in your heart. I'm sure your buddy had the best life he could possibly have and you gave that to him.

  2. I'm truly sorry. I met you on Flickr because of a beautiful photo of Buzz that you posted. My parents have 2 border collies and they are the love of our lives. I wish you peace.

  3. Oh, I'm so sorry! It's so hard to lose a pet, and probably almost more so when it's so unexpected. Much love and heart healing to you. <3

  4. Oh, sweetheart, you just got me all teary eyed. I am so sorry for your loss. We lost two senior cats within a few weeks of each other earlier this year… it was devasting, but it'll get easier. Take care of yourself.

  5. Oh, Rossie, I am so sorry! I am glad that you have people there who know what it means to lose an animal, though, and are keeping you busy. HUG.

  6. I am so very sorry. I know this is a heartbreaking time for you. I hope you will find, as we have, that after some time passes the sweet memories you've made will make you happy again, and all the many things that remind you of Buzz will be welcome, comforting, and lasting.

  7. i'm so sorry and sad about it. we lost our dog one year ago. we miss him so much but my little daughter said sometimes, she sawes him jumping on a cloud. harvey is still in our hearts and our minds… and perhaps… Buzz plays with harvey on a cloud…

  8. Hugs and licks from my house to yours. As a fellow quilter and dog lover my heart is with you. What a wonderful picture you posted! Claire, Callie, Fly and Eddie.

  9. Oh I'm so sorry! Terrible for him to go so young. Glad you're keeping busy & you have good people round you and great memories like the photo you've shared. Hugs

  10. So sorry to hear about Buzz. It is so hard – we had to have our 19 yr old cat put to sleep just a couple weeks ago, and we are all still missing her terribly. Take care.

  11. Noooo!!! I'm so sorry. I'm glad that he was in your life, even if it was just fleeting, but it's still a very sad thing.
Here's hoping that your heart will heal with time. And that you'll frame that photo of you and him. It's a keeper.

  12. Distressing isn't it – I must admit having gone through the same with with our older GSD a few years ago – I'm NOT looking forward to loosing his brother (who comes to work with me every day) in the near future – I know it's coming but still ……. ;-(

  13. So sorry to hear your sad news. Someone once said "No good dog ever lives long enough" and that is so true. When we have them for less than their usual amount of time, which is already too short, we feel especially cheated.
My experience of many years and a series of many dogs is that over time the pain of loss is balanced and surpassed by the immense joy we had by knowing them and having them in our lives.
I find that giving a new fur baby a home is very healing. But of course that's a very personal decision.
I wish you the very best.
