Two Hues, Many Values, Not Much Time
I’m full steam ahead on this quilt for my cousin Stinky.
I usually trust my eye when it comes to judging values, but I keep finding myself using my camera (and especially the camera’s black-and-white function) to check on my fabric sorting and the construction of the blocks.
These are some pictures I learned from as I was sorting fabric.

There are 100 ways to make log cabins, I’m not sure why I chose this particular method of making patchworked strips of each value, but so far I find the result really interesting. As in, I’m not sure how much I love it, but I do keep looking and looking.
What’s going to happen when these blocks reach 33″ square? I can’t wait to see if this is going to work the way I want this to work.

i love the b&w photo trick, thanks! I usually just take my glasses off and squint a little bit, but this makes it a little bit clearer.

That's such a clever idea for checking values. I'm definitely keeping that one in the back of my mind! Also, I'm really intrigued with this quilt and can't wait to see how the gigantic log cabins work out!

I always appreciate when I take a pic of a quilt fabrics to really "see" if it is all going together the way I want it. BUT! to use the b/w! Stunningly brilliant.
Also, thanks for the "process pledge" page. I use that to discover all kinds of neat people and their projects.
I always use that feature on my camera! I'm pretty confident too, but it is always worth double checking. Once I cut then I don't stop to make corrections as I sew. So I spend more time on fabric selection.
each block will be 33'' square? and it will be 3 by 3? Go girl!
