I'm so excited to announce that I'll be teaching at QuiltCon 2015! My class is…
Improv Sampler Quilt
At the beginning of August, there’s another Camp Stitchalot coming at you! I get to teach (yay!) But even better, I get to teach alongside Dan Rouse, Amanda Jean Nyberg, and Jacquie Gering! Four quilters that love improvisational piecing. Last week I got to play with the sample blocks from each teacher and make them into a little quilt top!
Blocks are by (starting in the upper left and continuing clockwise) Dan, Jacquie, Amanda Jean, and yours truly!
Campers will get a chance to learn each technique and they can either make a block of each and put it together into a baby quilt like this or they can make it much bigger, combine the techniques, and go their own way.
I had fun with the blocks a bit as they were coming in and even toyed with a layout like the one below…
Ultimately I decided it would be clearer to lay them out in a standard block arrangement, but I can’t wait to make my own quilt in August and play with different layouts and combinations!
Oh, and one last look at the backside of that improv sampler quilt:

I am sooo jealous of everyone going to this retreat – it looks amazing! Maybe one day…
It's such a good time! I hope we see you at camp sometime!
I love your sampler. And so jealous of the campers.
Best and most frustrating conversation in recent months? Trying to explain "ermahgerd" to my mum. Followed by explaining "meme" to her. Followed by a face palm and telling my father to never mind…
Thank you! Explaining internet things is kind of fun. I try to do it sometimes. I utterly failed to explain hastags to Jon's dad though. He was very confused.
Love those pebble blocks!
My mom is obsessed with the perfect granite eggs you can find on the coast of Maine. Like this: http://decoccodesigndrapes.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/granite-egss.jpg I am determined now to make her a granite egg quilt.
Oh, sweet plan!
My friends and I will be at camp this weekend and we are looking forward to it. Can't wait! Lin Whitley, Lexington ky.
It was so great to meet you all!
