Best Applique? Well, okay!

Just a quick note to say that my quilt The Painted Pebbles Quilt is hanging this week at AQS Quilt Week (October 2-5, 2013) in Des Moines, Iowa.  Show details are here.

The Painted Pebbles Quilt

And…drumroll please…my quilt won for “best applique” in the Modern Quilt Challenge!  So exciting!

AQS's Modern Quilt Challenge winners.  (including me!) (yay!)

You can learn the technique I used from my reverse applique tutorial on the blog, and/or come and take my class at Pink Castle Fabrics in Ann Arbor, Michigan on Monday, October 14th, 10:15am.

  1. Congratulations, Rossie! And to think you taught us that technique at Camp StitchAlot this summer! I'm so excited for you! Wish I could go see it in person!

  2. Well Rosie, I'm not surprised, I live a heck of long way from you and I could tell that was a winner the first time I read about it. Well done, my hats off to you! Its lovely!

  3. Congratulations Rossie – It's a beautiful quilt and thanks for sharing the tutorial
It's great to see that Marianne also won a category

  4. Congratulations, Rossie! It's a lovely quilt. I wish I could have attended the AQS show to see your quilt in person. It will have to suffice that my quilt is hanging next to yours. A brush with fame… ahh, the bliss.

  5. Congrats Rossi! Not surprised it is a beautiful quilt! Guess what? I actually made four pebbles today using your technique. I've been working on the 'wave' I made using Dan's technique. I put it in a sand coloured background and then I sliced and inserted pebbles using your technique. Had to look it up because I couldn't remember all the steps. I used my slab and slice and insert sample as the inside of the pebbles. Thanks for teaching us that technique. It's lots of fun and turns out so nice.
