Red Rover Skirt

Once upon a time, I saw the strike-offs for Rae Hoekstra‘s Small World fabric line (it’s CORDUROY!) and went nuts for it. Especially the red, white, and blue daschund print.

Shortly thereafter, I saw a few prototypes of the “Wander Skirt” by Karen Le Page, Rae’s good friend and sometimes studio mate. I oooo’d and ahhhh’d over the skirts, tried a few on, and asked when the pattern would be out. Well, somehow all this enthusiasm for the fabric and the skirt turned into Karen making this beautiful skirt for me.

It’s wonderful.  And reversible.

Worn here with my chore boots because I was multi-tasking by feeding the goats and doing a photoshoot.

Look at the darling embroidery on the blue side!  So wonderful!  (That photo is by Rae; I somehow failed to get a good close-up!)

I highly recommend the Cloud 9 corduroy.  It is such a nice weight, sturdy but never stiff. It’s obviously perfect for fully grown women, but might also work for kids if you’re doing some back-to-school sewing.  🙂

The “Wander Skirt” pattern from Gentle Clothing will be available soon. You can follow Karen at @gentleclothing on Instagram or sign up for her newsletter at GentleClothing.com if you’d like to know when it’s ready!

Alrighty, off to wander around in my new wander skirt!

I hope you all are having a great week!

To gear up for incoming fall inventory, Craftsy is having a closeout on some of their supplies. Be sure to check it out if there’s a skirt or quilt you’ve been meaning to make!
